Washington County Children’s Chorus to resume rehearsals

After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the Washington County Children’s Chorus will resume rehearsals from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Centre Street Congregational Church in Machias.

Founded in 1995 by chorus Director Chris Guy of Marshfield, the chorus currently includes 30 children from all over Washington County. Guy has a degree in music education from the  University of Southern Maine, where she majored in voice. Her commitment to music education has led her to work as a public school music teacher, a university-level voice teacher, and as the director of music for Centre Street Congregational Church where she served for 25 years.

Guy said she was inspired to form the chorus to provide a unique musical educational experience for the children of Washington County.

The chorus has previously performed in multiple locations around the world, including Washington, D.C., Chicago, Paris, Luxembourg, and on their most recent 2018 European trip, in the Burgundy region of France.

More information can be found at the chorus Facebook page, www.facebook.com/groups/50248283252, called Washington County Children’s Chorus.
