Kenneth J. Leighton, age 76, of Maynard, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of fifty-four years to Carol M. (Nelson) Leighton.  

 Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 23, 1941, he was the son of the late John W. Jr. and Gunvor (Borgeson) Leighton.  Ken graduated from Newton High School, class of 1959.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963.  

Born January 26, 1959 in Machias, Maine, the daughter of Joan Libby and Earl Anthony passed away unexpectedly December 1, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida.  

Aubrey Herbert Carter, 89, left this earth to begin eternal life with his heavenly father on December 30, 2017 after a long period of declining health. He was born in Ellsworth on September 8, 1928 to Ralph H. Carter and Helen (Card) Carter.

Paul M. Johnson, 65, of Machiasport passed away in the care of hospice at Eastern Maine Medical Center January 7, 2018 after a long illness.

Paul was gentle and generous to a fault, the person who offered you the shirt off his back, always concerned for the welfare of others. He was a student of history and loved to immerse himself in the Sunday NY Times.

George J. Fallon of Trescott Township, Maine passed away at his home the evening of December 26, 2017. George was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, February 20, 1934. Later his family moved to Worcester, Massachusetts. George graduated from Wilbraham Academy in 1952 and then attended Ohio Wesleyan University. He served three years in the Army stationed in Puerto Rico. George moved to Maine in the 1950’s and called Maine his home for the rest of his life. George studied for the ministry for some years at Boston University and graduated from University of Maine at Presque Isle. 

God welcomed home an angel,  Keagan Jane Stevenson, 10,  on December 14, 2017. Keagan was born August 18, 2007 in Bangor, the daughter of Faith Ann Mitchell and Christopher Allen Stevenson.

She was a 5th grader at Rose M. Gaffney School in Machias and enjoyed gymnastics, cheerleading, and basketball. She had a passion for arts and crafts, and a love for music.

Paul C. Hoyt, 77, drifted off to be with the Lord on December 22, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Machias February 19, 1940 the son of the late Curtis and Ida ( Mugnai) Hoyt . He attended Machias schools, and graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1958. Paul married Velma aHurlbert in 1962.

Warren Alden Colbeth, 56, passed away after a brief illness on December 2, 2017 at his home. He was born in Bangor on Oct. 25, 1961, the son of the late Madeleine (Huntley) and Warren Alden Colbeth, Sr.

He was a 25-year member of the Local 1377 Union. He worked for many years as a lobster fisherman. He loved hunting and fishing. He was very dedicated to his family, and enjoyed taking care of them and spending time with them.

Asia L. Well,  26, was tragically taken from us too soon on November 26, 2017 when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident on her way home to East Machias from spending time with her family in Vermont. 

Donna L. Williamson, 77, passed away peacefully November 30, 2017 at her home. She was born in Machiasport on April 11, 1940 the daughter of the late Morna (Foss) and Herbert Wood, Sr.

She was a graduate of the Washington Academy class of 1958. Along with her husband Bruce, they owned and operated the Margaretta Motel in Machias for over 40 years. She enjoyed her flower gardens, collecting Beanie Babies and Boyd Bears. She loved her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
