Martha Jane Foster

November 12, 1936 - December 12, 2020

Martha Jane Foster, born on November 12, 1936, passed away, quietly in her sleep on Saturday, December 12 at the age of 84.  Although she had spent much of her adult life in Gorham, Maine, then moved to California to live with her daughter for the past ten years, Martha loved Machias. She grew up in Machias, graduated from Machias High School and built a friendship with Ginnie Whitney that lasted her lifetime.  Her favorite spot on earth was known as "The Good Camp," a one room logging camp on the Machias River in Centerville, where she spent family time as a young girl during November hunting trips and she proudly shot her first deer at age eleven.  When Martha retired she moved back to The Good Camp full time, spending three years, summers and winters, in a cabin with no electricity and no running water.  It was life the way she loved it.  Martha will be missed by her daughter Cindy, two sons, Bill and Norman, her grandchildren Dayna, Robbie, Stephanie and Willie and many dear friends from Maine to California.
