Boggia doc reveals detailed plan to commit murder, intended victim

A former Machias and Calais business owner arrested after a three-day manhunt in February has been charged with two new crimes in addition to the 12 already levied against him. Robert Boggia, owner of Downeast Smoke and Vape shop in Machias, was charged on Tuesday, Oct. 30 with conspiracy to commit murder.

The Machias Fire Department responded to a call for a possible structure fire at 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. “When we arrived, the back part of the trailer was fully involved,” said Machias Fire Chief Joey Dennison. The fire took place at 54 Middle Street in Whitneyville.

Late night Machias raid leads to 3 arrests

A Connecticut man wanted on drug charges in Maine and a number of other felonies from Connecticut, was taken into custody late last night in Machias.  Rafael Santiago-Salazar aka: “Chico” was charged in February for selling heroin and crack cocaine, following a joint investigation by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  Following his arrest, Santiago-Salazar,  posted bail but never showed up for his court appearances in Maine.
